# eLys for Flanders

> What eLys is, why it applies to your firm, and what Lethra does with it.

eLys is the digital death administration platform run by Athumi for the
Flemish Region. Since 1 January 2026 it is the mandatory channel for the
inlichtingenfiche, the document that funeral directors submit to record how a
deceased person will be buried or cremated, along with the socio-economic data
that goes with it.

If your firm handles cases in Flanders, this is not optional paperwork on the
side: it is the record the region expects for every dossier.

> **Note:** The eLys section only appears when your firm is registered in the Flemish
> Region and Lethra has switched eLys on for it. It then shows on your cases.
> Firms outside Flanders never see it.
## What Lethra does with it

Lethra connects to eLys on your firm's behalf so the case file and the eLys
dossier stay close to each other, without you copying details between two
systems.

(Screenshot: The eLys block on a case, with a linked dossier: the deceased's name, Open and Claimed, the date of death, owning funeral home and national number, and the Documents, Inlichtingenfiche and Socio-economic data sections.)

- **It searches** eLys for the dossier that matches a case, using the national
registry number when the case has one.
- **It links** a dossier to a case, so the two stay associated for as long as
  you need them to.
- **It imports documents** eLys already holds for that dossier into the case
file, so they sit alongside everything else you have on the family.
- **It prefills** the inlichtingenfiche from what the case already knows, such
as whether the funeral is a burial or a cremation.
- **It compares** the dossier to the case. Case fields that are still empty,
such as the date of death, are filled in from eLys. A name or date of death
that differs is put to your team in the inbox instead of silently
  overwritten.

## What always waits for you

> **Caution:** Lethra never submits, updates, releases or closes a dossier by itself. Search,
> link, compare and import happen on your behalf, but claiming a dossier by
> submitting the inlichtingenfiche, and every change to it afterwards, is
> something a member of your firm does deliberately.
This mirrors how the rest of the agent works: it prepares and gathers, and a
person in your firm decides when something is ready to go.
