    How Lethra compares
    with the software you know.

Most funeral homes run three or four tools: one for cases, one for the website, an answering service and a marketing agency. Here is an honest look at the major names in North America and Europe, what each does well, and where Lethra is different.

Based on each vendor's website, pricing pages and trade press. Reviewed October 2026.

    The landscape

    Three kinds of funeral software

Funeral software grew up in separate pieces. Each piece does its own job well and leaves a gap for the next vendor to fill.

    01

    Case management software

Back-office systems for arrangements, documents, contracts and payments. Passare, Gather and Osiris are the best-known independent names in North America.

    Passare · Gather · Osiris · Halcyon · Afterword · Parting Pro · Funeral Manager · Lumo · Funalux · FuneralView · Simplifia · Twist Funéraire

What's missing: Little or nothing to bring new families in, and nobody answering the phone.

    02

    Websites, obituaries and marketing

Funeral home websites, obituary pages and flower stores, with marketing sold as a service. Tribute Technology and Tukios are the two largest website providers, by their own counts.

Tribute Technology · Tukios · Funeral Innovations

What's missing: Ads and social media are agency work billed on top, and the phone is not included.

    03

    Answering services

Human call centres such as ASD, and a new wave of AI receptionists, pick up first calls after hours.

    ASD · FuneralWiseAI · Hanc.ai

What's missing: They take a message and, at best, pass it to your case software. Nothing reaches your website, ads or content.

The usual stack, and what it costs

A typical independent home in North America pays for each piece separately:

    • Case management software$79 to $325+ a month
    • Website and obituariesFree with flower commissions, or a paid plan
    • 24/7 phone answering$195 a month plus setup (AI); people on quote
    • Ads and social mediaAn agency on quote, plus your ad budget

Prices as published by Osiris, Afterword and FuneralWiseAI, October 2026. Your quotes will differ.

    With Lethra

One platform. The software is free.

    • Website, obituaries, ads, social posts and pre-need follow-up
    • AI that answers calls and website chats, day and night
    • Cases, documents, meeting notes and the family portal
    • You pay only for the AI work, at cost. No contract.

    Vendor by vendor

The major names, one by one

What each vendor is, who owns it, what it costs where that is public, what it does well and where Lethra is different.

    Case management

    Passare

    Cloud case management, US

    Who
Owned by Directors Investment Group, the parent of Funeral Directors Life. Founded 2012.
    Pricing
    Not published. Contact sales.

    What they do well

One of the larger AI sets among case systems: obituary writer, form scanner, meeting notetaker and case suggestions. QuickBooks sync, e-signatures and an online Arrangement Guide.

    Where Lethra is different

Passare runs the back office. It has no website, ads, social posts or phone answering of its own. Lethra adds those, and can run next to Passare if you keep it.

    Case management

    Gather

    Case management and websites, US

    Who
Independent and venture-backed, based in Idaho.
    Pricing
One-time activation fee plus a monthly subscription, quoted per home.

    What they do well

Warm, family-friendly design: each family member gets their own access, every case gets a Remember page, plus an AI obituary builder, livestreaming, QuickBooks and pre-need cases.

    Where Lethra is different

Gather looks after families once they have chosen you. Lethra also brings them to you with ads and social posts, and answers calls and website chats around the clock.

    Case management

    Osiris

    Case management and accounting, US

    Who
Independent. A product of Funeral Director's Resource, Oklahoma.
    Pricing
From $79 a month, based on call volume. Month to month, with a 30-day free trial.

    What they do well

A low, transparent price with no contract, and deep QuickBooks and accounting support. Covers cemeteries, crematories and multi-state groups.

    Where Lethra is different

A strong back office with no website, marketing or AI layer. Lethra covers the front of the house: website, ads, AI calls and chat, alongside its own case files.

    Case management

    Halcyon

    Case management, US

    Who
Bought by Batesville in September 2024. Batesville is owned by LongRange Capital.
    Pricing
    Not published by the vendor.

    What they do well

Case management, scheduling and forms with automated obituary creation, plus dedicated crematory, trade and pet cremation software with QR body tracking.

    Where Lethra is different

We found no website, marketing or phone answering. Batesville sold its website business to Tukios in 2025, so those now come from another vendor.

    Case management

    Afterword

Case management and online planning, US and Canada

    Who
Founded by Effie Anolik (ex-Shopify) and Zack Moy, whose earlier AI company was acquired by Workday.
    Pricing
Published: from $79 a month (Essential) up to $325+ a month for case management, for 200 cases a year.

    What they do well

A modern online planner with videos of your own staff, chain-of-custody tracking, e-signatures, payments and "Grace" AI that builds cases from photographed forms.

    Where Lethra is different

Afterword digitizes the arrangement. It does not run your website, ads or phones. Lethra does, and the software costs nothing.

    Case management

    Parting Pro

Online arrangements and case management, US

    Who
An online arranging company. Also offered by Tribute Technology, which integrates it.
    Pricing
    Not published. Demo and quote.

    What they do well

Known for branded online cremation arranging: families choose and pay online, with e-signatures, flexible payments and review management.

    Where Lethra is different

Focused on the arrangement itself. Lethra also covers what comes before it (ads, website, 24/7 calls) and after it (portal, documents, content).

    Websites & marketing

    Tribute Technology

Websites, obituaries, case software and marketing, US and Canada

    Who
Owned by Carlyle (majority) and Vista Equity since October 2020. Brings together Frazer, FrontRunner, FuneralTech, SRS, CFS, MKJ and others, now billed by Tribute. Says 9,000+ funeral homes use it.
    Pricing
Not published. Contact sales. The flower store pays a commission.

    What they do well

The broadest suite in North America: websites, Obit360 obituaries, a flower store, management software, payments, pre-need lead capture and an AI obituary writer.

    Where Lethra is different

Ads and social media are a separate managed service (Tribute Marketing Services with MKJ Marketing), and there is no phone answering. In Lethra, the AI designs and runs the ads and answers every call.

    Websites & marketing

    Tukios

Websites, obituaries and aftercare, US and Canada

    Who
Based in Ogden, Utah. Bought Batesville's funeral website business in July 2025.
    Pricing
Not published. No contracts and free onboarding.

    What they do well

Modern websites with AI tools (obituary writer, photo editor, guestbook moderation), tribute videos, a flower store, an online arranger and payments.

    Where Lethra is different

Its Lead Engine promotes offers on your own obituary pages and subscriber emails, not on Meta or Google, and there is no phone answering or full case management. Lethra does both.

    Websites & marketing

    Funeral Innovations

    Pre-need marketing, US

    Who
Working with funeral homes since 2007, with offices in Colorado and Iowa. Billed by Tribute Technology among its brands.
    Pricing
From $99 a month (Basic) or $199 (Pro), plus a one-time setup fee. Growth+ on quote.

    What they do well

One of the few vendors focused on pre-need growth: Facebook posts and ads, lead nurturing, email newsletters, aftercare outreach, websites and online arrangers.

    Where Lethra is different

A marketing service, not operations software. Lethra pairs pre-need marketing with AI that runs it, plus cases, calls and the family portal.

    Phone answering

    ASD

Human answering service for funeral homes, US

    Who
Family-owned since 1972 and funeral-only. Says it serves more than a third of US funeral homes.
    Pricing
Not published. A 2014 ASD blog post put the average independent home near $165 a month.

    What they do well

Funeral-trained call specialists 24/7, a mobile app and links with funeral software.

    Where Lethra is different

A person takes a message and passes it on. Lethra's AI receptionist answers in your name, routes urgent calls and files a summary in the right case, at what the AI and phone companies charge.

    Phone answering

    FuneralWiseAI

AI answering service for funeral homes, US

    Who
Made by ChurchWiseAI and positioned as an alternative to human answering services such as ASD.
    Pricing
$995 one-time setup, then $195 a month for unlimited calls (as listed in October 2026).

    What they do well

Built for grieving callers: it answers every call, takes first-call details, escalates to the director on call and sends call summaries to a dashboard.

    Where Lethra is different

A point tool: the call lives on its own. In Lethra the same AI answers calls and website chats and hands over to your cases, website and marketing, in English, French and Dutch, with no setup fee.

    Phone answering

    Hanc.ai

    AI receptionist, Europe

    Who
A general AI receptionist with a funeral-home offer, hosted in the EU.
    Pricing
From €49 a month, including €50 of call credit at €0.15 a minute plus call charges. A free plan exists.

    What they do well

EU hosting, French and Dutch among its languages, books arrangement meetings and puts urgent calls through. Also offers website and WhatsApp agents.

    Where Lethra is different

A general-purpose AI agent platform. It handles calls and conversations, but does not run case files, ads or content.

    Case management

    Funeral Manager

    Case management and invoicing, Belgium

    Who
ADDF Software, Nivelles. Bought Funero in 2023 and also has clients in France.
    Pricing
    Not published. On request.

    What they do well

French and Dutch, quotes and invoices largely pre-filled, official documents, an in-office screen for notices and many partner links.

    Where Lethra is different

It has no website builder, ads or AI receptionist, which Lethra includes.

    Case management

    Lumo

    Case and workflow management, Flanders

    Who
    Lumo BV, Leuven.
    Pricing
From €22 per dossier (Basic) to €27 (Enterprise), with a discount after 150 dossiers.

    What they do well

One of the packages Athumi lists as approved for eLys, with planning, configurable workflows, quotes, invoices and pre-press.

    Where Lethra is different

A back-office tool in Dutch, with no family portal, website or marketing. Lethra is a platform that also finds and answers families.

    Case management

    Funalux

Case management and printed matter, Belgium

    Who
Built by overDRUK bv, a print company in Erpe-Mere.
    Pricing
    Not published. Demo on request.

    What they do well

eLys integration, a family portal, Peppol e-invoicing, a web widget for condolences and flowers, and mourning print design.

    Where Lethra is different

Funalux shows notices on your existing site but does not build it, run ads or answer the phone. Lethra does.

    Case management

    FuneralView

Case management and policy administration, Netherlands

    Who
Arch-IT, Emmeloord. Says it serves 350+ funeral professionals.
    Pricing
From €52.50 a month (Solo) or €105 (Team), excluding VAT.

    What they do well

Built for funeral associations and insurers too: members, policies and deposits, with links to accounting packages such as Exact Online and SnelStart.

    Where Lethra is different

Little on the family side: no website, condolences or AI. Lethra covers those.

    Case management

    Simplifia

    Case management and websites, France

    Who
Lyon, founded 2011, now a group in 5 countries. Says 1,200 independent funeral homes use it.
    Pricing
    Not published. Quoted per agency.

    What they do well

Case files, quotes and contracts in one tool, Factur-X e-invoicing, a website in your name with memorial pages, a family support service and multi-site support.

    Where Lethra is different

Google Ads and local SEO come with its website service, but no Meta campaigns, AI or phone answering are advertised. Lethra adds those, in French, Dutch and English.

    Case management

    Twist Funéraire

    All-in-one funeral software, France

    Who
French vendor, hosted in France and Switzerland.
    Pricing
Pay per use or a custom subscription. Free trial.

    What they do well

One of the broadest French suites: files, quotes with e-signature, funeral plans, a website with death notices, an online shop and email and SMS marketing.

    Where Lethra is different

No AI or phone answering advertised. Lethra's AI answers calls and chats and runs ad campaigns on Meta and Google.

    No big switch

Keep what works. Add what is missing.

You do not have to replace your case software to use Lethra.

    1. 01

      Start with growth

Your website, ads, social posts and 24/7 AI receptionist run next to whatever case software you use today.

    2. 02

Bring cases over when you are ready

If you later want cases, documents and the family portal in Lethra, we import your records and history for you, at no cost.

    3. 03

      Pay only for the work

The software is free. You pay for the AI work it does, at cost, and your ad budget goes straight to Meta and Google.

    Comparison questions

    Fair questions

It can, but it does not have to. Lethra has its own case files and family portal, and many homes start by running its website, ads and AI receptionist next to the case software they already use.

It depends on what you need most. For a back office with accounting, the case systems in this comparison are mature. For websites, Tribute Technology and Tukios are the two largest providers, by their own counts. Lethra is for homes that want more families and less admin, with AI doing the work, in one platform.

The software costs nothing. You pay for the AI work, such as calls answered and posts written, at what the AI and phone companies charge. Lethra is designed to be funded by pre-need insurance commissions shared with your home. The pricing page has the details.

Today Lethra does not offer e-signatures, livestreaming, a flower store or an accounting integration. Your accounting package and livestream provider can stay as they are.

Yes. The AI receptionist answers around the clock in your firm's name, collects intake details and routes urgent calls to whoever is on duty. Each call is summarized into the right case file. You pay for the calls it handles, at what the AI and phone companies charge.
